Services

Melbourne's complete thermal envelope.

Ceiling, underfloor, external wall, acoustic, and removal. One install crew, one product family, one 50-year warranty - on every zone of your home.

What we do

Five services. One standard.

We install a complete residential thermal envelope and nothing else. Every zone uses the same Earthwool product family, the same install crew, and the same 50-year product warranty. Pick the zones your home needs.

Our approach

The materials cost roughly the same.
The install is what changes the result.

In Europe, insulation is a regulated building science. In Australia, it is often an afterthought. Here is the difference between those two approaches, side by side.

The commodity approach
How most companies operate
EER rating
~4/10
  • Minimum R-value to meet code on paper.
  • Batts stuffed in, gaps and penetrations ignored.
  • No attention to thermal bridging over joists.
  • Cheapest material in stock that week.
  • Rushed install, no post-job photos.
  • "Good enough" mentality.
The Pro Insulation standard
European precision, Melbourne homes
EER rating
8+/10
  • R-value selected for how your home actually performs.
  • Precision-cut batts, zero gaps, sealed penetrations.
  • Full coverage over joists with R7.0 or R8.0 extra-wide.
  • Earthwool with ECOSE binder, every job, no swaps.
  • Photo evidence of every stage, delivered on hand-over.
  • Engineered for 50-year performance.
Technician in full PPE industrial-vacuuming old insulation debris from between ceiling joists in a roof cavity
01Removal & replacement

Before we install, we get the cavity back to zero.

Every ceiling upgrade starts with removing whatever is up there today. We lift old batts, bag and dispose, then industrial-vacuum the cavity so new insulation sits on a clean surface. Available as a standalone service when the old stuff has to go but the upgrade is delayed.

When it's needed
  • 01Old batts that have slumped, compressed, or gone to R1.5.
  • 02Rodent or possum contamination, nesting, or waste.
  • 03Historic asbestos-era loose-fill that needs licensed handling.
  • 0440+ years of tradie dust, ceiling repairs, and grime.
  • 05Renovations where the cavity needs to be reset before recladding.

02Ceiling insulation

The single highest-impact upgrade in the house.

Up to 45% of a Melbourne home's heat loss leaves through the ceiling. We remove whatever is up there, vacuum the cavity, and lay Earthwool batts with full coverage over the joists. You pick the R-value, we specify the install.

How we install
  1. 01Confirm safe attic access and check the roof cavity.
  2. 02Measure joist spacing so batts fit without gaps or compression.
  3. 03Remove old batts and vacuum 40+ years of dust, pests, and debris.
  4. 04Lay new Earthwool at your chosen R-value with zero gaps over the joists.
  5. 05Photograph every stage and issue a written R-value certificate.

Retrofit underfloor insulation batts pinned between timber joists in a period-home subfloor, concrete stumps visible below
03Underfloor batts

Cold floorboards in winter, gone.

Period homes on stumps lose heat straight into the subfloor. Underfloor batts between the joists close the bottom of your thermal envelope, kill the cold-plate effect on floorboards, and cut the drafts that come up through gaps.

How we install
  1. 01Inspect subfloor clearance and ventilation.
  2. 02Flag any plumbing, electrical, or damp issues before we start.
  3. 03Install Earthwool batts tight between floor joists with no sag.
  4. 04Secure with breathable mesh so nothing drops over time.
  5. 05Photograph and certify the install.

04External wall

The primary thermal envelope, done properly.

External walls are the biggest thermal surface on the house. We install Earthwool wall batts to R2.5HD or R2.7 during a renovation, new build, or full re-clad, so your heater is not fighting a leaky shell every winter.

How we install
  1. 01Coordinate with your builder or plasterer so we land at the right stage.
  2. 02Check stud spacing and cavity depth before batts arrive on site.
  3. 03Install Earthwool wall batts friction-fit, no sag, no compression.
  4. 04Seal service penetrations so the thermal break stays continuous.
  5. 05Hand over with sign-off photos before plaster goes up.

05Acoustic panels

Interior walls. For the noise you can't sleep through.

Not all insulation is about temperature. High-density Earthwool between interior studs is one of the cheapest fixes for a noisy house. We drop it into renovation walls, stud-framed mid-floors, and retrofits where the plaster is already off.

Where it earns its keep
  • 01Home offices that share a wall with the lounge.
  • 02Kids' rooms next to the living room or kitchen.
  • 03Master bedrooms where you actually want to sleep in.
  • 04Media rooms and theatres with serious speakers.
  • 05Mid-floor slabs between levels on two-storey homes.
